First we need to understand how people learn so we can apply these learning strategies to facilitate change. Information is programmed through our senses (sight, smell, sound, etc). Recall the last time you had your favorite meal or the smell of warm chocolate cake. Notice your automatic thoughts such as, "Mmm, I'd really like that now,"or notice your automatic feelings like hunger or craving. This is your subjective experience.

imagine if we were to change some elements, such as adding romantic
music and candle light which might enhance this experience or add a
feeling of standing in windy, rainy cold weather which might diminish
your experience. We have changed the "neurological configuration," the
sensory encoding, of the situation which makes it more or less
desirable.
This is a simple example of repatterning. There are numerous simple, yet effective NLP techniques and the professional application of these techniques can create deep and lasting change. NLP can heighten states of awareness, reprogram negative experiences, and amplify positive emotions. A fresh garden salad can become a delicious meal you crave. Exercise can become something you look forward to and feel excited about! |
